AS Shaken by Another Mass Shooting, 4 Dead in Philadelphia

4 people were killed and two others injured in a mass shooting that occurred on Monday night, July 3, 2023, in Philadelphia, United States. Philadelphia is the largest city in the state of Pennsylvania, USA. Although it is not the state capital, Philadelphia is one of the most historic cities in America.

According to Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw at a press conference on Monday night, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the mass shooting.

The Philadelphia shooting took place across several blocks in the southwest neighborhood of Kingsessing. Responding officers pursued the suspect as he continued to shoot, and he was apprehended in an alley after surrendering, said Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw at the press conference.

The suspect is believed to be a 40-year-old man. Outlaw stated that the suspect appears to have no connection to the victims. She added that the suspect was wearing a bulletproof vest and had a police scanner.

The shooting occurred a day after a shootout broke out at a block party during the holiday weekend in Baltimore, approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuring 28 others. The injured individuals ranged in age from 13 to 32 years old, with over half of them being minors, according to officials.
